What makes me different from other DJs?
First things first: There are other high-quality, professional DJ's out there, and I've been blessed to get to know a few. This is not the part where I tell you that I'm the only game in town! However, I try my best to set myself apart.
1- Lower prices, better communication
Being a one-man operation gives me lower overhead than the bigger outfits, which means I can charge less for the same quality of production. It also means I'm the only person you talk to from start to finish. I myself am your DJ, not one of my employees or a sub-contracted DJ.
2- High-quality equipment & sound expertise
I have high-quality equipment and I know how to use it. The only thing worse than a DJ with cheap speakers is a DJ with nice speakers that doesn't know how to make them sound their best! And the cherry on top is the MC who sounds like he's talking through a pillow because he doesn't know how to set his microphone up right.
3- Clarity -- not just volume
I always use a subwoofer. It doesn't mean "louder," it means "clear bass." Regardless of the volume, from Frank Sinatra to the Cupid Shuffle the bass needs to be clear, and while my speakers are high-quality and can reproduce low frequencies better than the speakers many DJs use, there's simply no replacement for a subwoofer. (Though occasionally circumstances dictate not to use one--for instance, some venues don't allow them.)
4- Musical training
When you hire a DJ to do sound for your ceremony you're usually not getting a trained and experienced sound engineer. If your event has musicians and/or vocalists I actually know how to make them sound like they're supposed to. Not to mention I have all the necessary equipment from microphones, mic stands, direct boxes, cables, etc...
5- Sleek display & Dance lighting
I aim to look as good as I sound, which is why my basic DJ package INCLUDES Dance Floor/Effect Lighting. Along with that I always cover my table and my speaker stands with white spandex scrim and backlight them to an appropriate color.
